"Genie" is the lead single from the extended play of the same title by South Korean girl group Girls Generation. Produced by Fridolin Nordsø and me back in 2008. The song became the group's sixth hit Korean single, topping various offline and online charts.
"Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)" was released digitally on June 22, 2009. The group's first performance for the mini-album was on June 26 on KBS Music Bank. Within a few days, the song topped on 10 different digital music charts. The song was also rewarded as the most popular album and ringtone download. The music video won two MTV Video Music Awards in Japan for Best Group Video and for Best Karaoke! Song.

The Japanese version of the song is also the debut single by Girls' Generation in Japan, which was released on September 8, 2010. A new version of the music video was filmed to accompany the Japanese version.
The song reached #5 on the Oricon Charts on release day. The song reached #2 on September 11, 2010. It was also selected by iTunes Japan as the #1 Breakthrough Album of 2010.
On October 24, 2010 a 3D music video of the Korean version, was released for Samsung PAVV LED TV in 3D.
